Introduction & History

The Textile Engineering Alumni Association (TEAA) of the Department of Textile Engineering, MBSTU, was first conceptualized on May 2, 2014, during a get-together of former students at Fire on Ice Restaurant in Dhaka. A convening committee was formed, with Subrata Chandra Das (1st batch) as Convenor and Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam (2nd batch) as Member Secretary. Despite the initial effort, no formal response came from the department. The need for an alumni association resurfaced after the successful 1st Reunion 2017, and during the first Iftar Party in 2017, another convening committee was established. Subrata Chandra Das and Amit Sarker were appointed Convenor and Member Secretary, respectively. TEAA was officially inaugurated on June 1, 2018, during the second Iftar Party, with MBSTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Alauddin presiding and key faculty members attending. The 1st Executive Committee was announced, with Subrata Chandra Das as President and Amit Sarker as General Secretary. The committee included Vice Presidents, Secretaries for various portfolios (such as Social Welfare, Education, Media, and Cultural Affairs), and a large team of assistant secretaries and executive members. TEAA aims to strengthen alumni connections, support students, and contribute to the growth of textile education and practice in Bangladesh.
