MBSTU’s Textile Engineering Alumni Association celebrates Reunion 2020

Textile Engineering Alumni Association of MBSTU organized the 2nd reunion at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University campus, Santosh, Tangail on 14 February 2020. On this occasion, the former and present students of the department gathered together in a daylong reunion program.

The main slogan of this program was ‘Be united, Break the distance’ where in this mega event, Soto Monir, Member of Parliament, 131, Tangail-2 (Gopalpur-Bhuyanpur), was present as Chief Guest.

Among special guests Engr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman (CIP), President of ITET, Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal Nasir, Dean of the Engineering Faculty, MBSTU, Engr. Shamim Rahman, Vice President of ITET, Engr. Md. Touhidul Islam Kakon, Join Secretary-General of ITET were present.

The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Iqbal Mahmud, Chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, MBSTU.

ITET delegates visited the university campus area, Mawlana Bhashani Mazar and Mawlana Bhashani memorial museum with department chairman, TEAA committee members and the students.

Inauguration part of the program started with the balloon flying, rally with everyone and cake cutting by distinguished guests. At the beginning of the program, running batch students welcome all guests with flowers. TEAA President Md. Mirazur Rahman delivered a welcome speech in this session.

Soto Monir, MP, Tangail-2 said, “Textile sector is an important sector and this kind of reunion program will establish a good relationship between the teachers, students and alumni of the department.”

He also added that, for higher study in textiles, Germany has a lot of scopes in terms of scholarship.

He informed that he would also assist those who are interested to build textile higher study in Germany.

ITET President Engr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman said, “This university is named after a great leader Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, who played a critical role in shaping the country's history.”

He also included that, “TEAA, MBSTU is a good platform for the textile sector” and he will also cooperate regarding ITET accreditation.

In the afternoon session, the alumni shared their job market experiences with the current students of the department. The mega program ended with evening cultural program and fireworks activities.

Mahbubur Rahman Mithu (Ex-Treasurer), the Executive Members – Engr. Md. Abu Jamir Alo, Engr. Sharif Hasan and other members of the executive committee were attended in the program.

Textile alumni executive members of MBSTU visit Textile Today office

Textile Engineering Alumni Association’s executive committee members of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) attended in a meeting with Textile Today on 7 September, Friday at the conference room of Textile Today office, Uttara, Dhaka.

On behalf of MBSTU Textile Alumni, President Subrata Chandra Das welcomed Textile Today with flowers.

Tareq Amin, Editor, and Publisher of Textile Today said that MBSTU Textile Talents already proved themselves in the Textile job field as well as higher studies in different countries. Textile Today is always ready to assist MBSTU’s textile graduates to take a good position in the competitive job market through factory-based training, research and so on.

Sanjoy Kumar Saha, Manager Industry Engagement and Sub Editor said that MBSTU Textile graduates are doing great in Textile field at home and abroad. In future, Textile Today will work jointly for the branding and betterment of MBSTU Textile Engineers.

Subrata Chandra Das said, “Textile Today is the leading Textile Journal which upholds our textile sector to the whole world.”

He also added that textile graduates are being benefited through different career development programs, leadership skills, training programs from Textile Today. In future, MBSTU Textile Alumni will work together for the development of textile engineers and branding of textile.

In the meeting, MBSTU Textile Alumni General Secretary Amit Sarker, Vice presidents Md. Shafayet Arefin, Treasurer Mahbbur Rahman, Education, and Research Secretary A.K.M. Ayatullah Hosne Asif, Organizing Secretary Md. Sharifur Rahman Rakesh and other executive members were also present.

Textile Engineering Alumni of DTE, MBSTU started its Journey

The long cherished dream of the graduates of the department of textile engineering of MBSTU, “Textile Engineering Alumni” started its journey as the proposed convening commitee was formed on 16 June, 2017 at a grand iftar mahafil at Falguni Food Village, Uttara, Dhaka.

Textile engineering department is one of the best departments in the MBSTU campus. This department started its journey in the year of 2005. Already, seven batch have completed their B.Sc. Engineering degree under this department and five batch is runninng. So, an alumni was a crying need for this department and finally it is being formed.

The proposed convening comittee was formed by 14 ex-students (2 students from each ex-seven batches). The grand iftar mahfil was organised by the ex-students of this department in association with Best Corporation and Amit Sarker (ex-student of DTE, MBSTU, now working in china as an International Business Manager).



Around 70 people from both ex and current students joined in the grand iftar mahfil. There, they made the detail discussion on Textile Engineering Alumni and formed a convening comittee. The term period of this proposed convening  comittee is three months.



Apart from all, it was a great day for all the ex and current students of DTE, MBSTU. There was a gerat gathering of all senior and juniors of DTE, MBSTU. Everyone exchanged grettings to each other, selfies were taken.

MBSTU hosts seminar on Sustainability

A seminar, organized by Department of Textile Engineering (DTE) of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) and presided by Dr. Md. Iqbal Mahmud, Chairman of the department, was held on 22 November at BGE seminar hall titled ‘Sustainability in Textile-Apparel Sector (Textile Engineer’s Point of View)’.

The seminar was inaugurated by the chief guest Professor Dr. Md. Alauddin, Vice-Chancellor, MBSTU. He hailed DTE to arrange such a seminar, which is very important for 21st century and as well as for the third world country like us. He also gave some directional speech for the students.

Engr. Abrar Ahmed Apu attended as a keynote speaker on the seminar where he discussed in details about sustainability and how much important this is for maintaining a green world. Open discussions with guests, students and teachers were also happened after he finished his keynote. Professor Dr. Muhammad Sahin Uddin also attended as a special guest. The convener of the seminar organizing committee A.K.M. Ayatullah Hosne Asif, Assistant Professor, DTE, MBSTU gave the welcome speech in the seminar.

Annual iftar mahfeel of Textile Engineering Alumni Association (TEAA), MBSTU held

Textile Engineering Alumni Association of Mawlana Bhashani Science & Technology University (MBSTU) organized annual Iftar Mahfeel at Hui Legacy restaurant, Uttara on 24 May, 2019.

About 100 former and current students were present in the program. Md. Abdur Razzak, GM (Production & Marketing) of LLano (Bangladesh) Ltd. and Bangladesh Textile Today factory tales Coordinator Rahbar Hossain also attend the program.
The program started at 6 pm and ended at 9 pm. After iftar and buffet dinner, there was a discussion about the alumni association and its future goals.
From the Executive Committee of TEAA, MBSTU, President Engr. Subrata Chandra Das, General Secretary Engr. Amit Sarker; Vice-President Engr. Md. Shafayet Arefin; Organizing Secretary Engr. Md. Sharifur Rahman Rakesh; Assistant General Secretary Engr. Md. Mohsin Alam and other members were also present in the program.

The Textile Engineering Alumni Association (TEAA) of the Department of Textile Engineering, MBSTU, was first conceptualized on May 2, 2014, during a get-together of former students at Fire on Ice Restaurant in Dhaka. A convening committee was formed, with Subrata Chandra Das (1st batch) as Convenor and Md. Eanamul Haque Nizam (2nd batch) as Member Secretary. Despite the initial effort, no formal response came from the department.
